Ministry of Finance has proposed USD 155.2 million for Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP).

A great priority has been given in the State Budget for 2020 for developing water and sewerage facilities, with USD 84.1 million allocated for such projects and USD 71.1 million allocated for harbour development projects in 45 islands.

In his budget statement at the parliament, Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer stated the administration aims to start providing water and sewerage services to 157 inhabited islands within the next two years, highlighting it is one of the campaign pledges of the administration.

The administration spends about USD 2.9 million in providing fresh water every year when the water resources in some islands get dried up during some parts of the year.
