Parliamentary Committee on Economy Affairs has completed reviewing the nominations submitted by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to be appointed for the vacant position in the Board of Directors of Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA).
President Solih nominated Makhtoom Saleem and Ismail Saajid to be appointed for the vacant position in the Board of Directors of MIRA. The nominations have now been forwarded for voting following the approval from the committee after an interview. Only one of the nominations will be passed by the parliament to be appointed to the Board of Directors of MIRA.
The president recently ratified the Second Amendment to the Tax Administration Act. The amendment, ratified on September 12, reconstituted the composition of the governing board of MIRA. The president must appoint five of the seven-member board, including the Commissioner General of Taxation, according to the amendment.
