No threat of eradicated diseases spreading in Maldives

Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen has said the diseases eradicated in Maldives are not likely to reappear as they have been eradicated and controlled.

Speaking at a press conference, Health Minister Ameen said Maldives are successful in eradicating many dangerous diseases and preventive measures have been taken in ensuring they do not spread in the country again. He remarked that no such diseases have been reported in the Maldives thus far. He also highlighted on the ongoing efforts to strengthen policies in order to carry a thorough screening of expatriate employees in ensuring the diseases do not spread in the country.

Maldives has been successful in eradicating non-communicable diseases before the targeted date World Health Organisation had set.

Ministry of Health is working to ensure non-communicable diseases do not spread with globalisation and constant travelling of people.
