Committee begins reviewing nominations for vacant position in JSC

Parliamentary Committee on Judiciary has begun reviewing the nominations submitted for the vacant position in Judicial Service Commission (JSC), which is to be held by a member of the public.

A total of 6 individuals submitted nominations for the position. The individuals are Zubair Ahmed Manik, Ali Mohamed Manik, Ahmed Niqmad, Ahmed Savia, Mirfath Faaiz and Hussain Amr.

JSC is formed by 9-members including the speaker of parliament, a member of parliament, a judge from the Supreme Court who is not the chief justice, a judge from the High Court, a judge from a lower court, a representative of the president, a representative from the public, the attorney general and the president of Civil Service Commission (CSC).

Currently, the seat for a representative from the public is vacant.
