Minister at President’s Office Mohamed Shifaz has launched laboratory services in Thakandhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll.
The administration has established all the equipment and other facilities needed to provide laboratory services in Thakandhoo.
Thakandhoo has a population of over 900 people. The residents of the island travel 30-45 minutes for medical services from Dhidhdhoo Atoll Hospital and Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital.
With the introduction of laboratory services in Thakandhoo, 8 islands in the atoll are now equipped to provide the services, according to Ministry of Health.
