Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has expressed hope the current administration would be the most successful in governing Maldives, adding all efforts to divide the party will fail.
Speaking at the function held to launch his bid to run for another term as the President of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), the main ruling party, Nasheed noted the administration prioritised to establish a long-term plan for the development of Maldives, since assuming office last November. He expressed confidence in the efforts of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in governing Maldives, adding MDP must assist its members in the smooth running of the state despite any differences within the party.
Nasheed highlighted with MDP controlling a majority in the government and the parliament, the reform agenda sought by its members must not fail. Expressing his wish for the administration to succeed, he noted there are several institutions in the country that need to be reformed.
During the function, Nasheed, a former president who is regarded as the most popular politician in Maldives, asked members of his party to endorse him for another term.
