MTCC said the site was mobilised after conducting an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study, which was approved on September 26. MTCC was contracted to design and construct the Meedhoo harbour by Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure on June 23.
As part of the agreement, the design and build of Meedhoo harbour consists of a 2,480 metre harbour pavement, 57,996 cubic metres of dredging and reclamation along with construction of a 115 metre breakwater and a 208 metre quay wall.
The project is valued at about USD 2.3 million and is expected to be completed in 365 days.
