Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed has revealed the former administration terminated valid contracts to harm targeted businesses.
Speaking at the Parliamentary Committee on Public Accounts, Minister Ali Waheed said several businesses were targeted and valid agreements were terminated because the businesses or the business owners supported the opposition movement. The presidential committee and the ministry is developing a code of action to compensate for the businesses that were affected due to prejudiced treatment during the previous administration. The tourism minister expressed the purpose of such a measure is to lighten the burden the government might have to bear due to such practices. He further said recent settlements alone is proof that terminating valid agreements cause the most harm to the state.
