President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Mohamed Amir Ahmed as the Director-General of the National Archives. The appointment was made under Article 7, Clause (b), of the National Archives Act.
Mohamed Amir Ahmed holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Dhivehi Language and has previously worked extensively in the fields of teaching, writing and journalism. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Director, Administration and Human Resources at Sun Media Group.
As the Director-General of the National Archive, Amir will oversee efforts to ensure the preservation of official documents, photographs, maps and records of the state, as stipulated in the National Archives Act. The National Archives was established on January 19, 2012, per the National Archives Act.
