Minister of Education Dr Aishath Ali has revealed the new salary structure of teachers has been forwarded for approval from National Pay Commission.
Speaking at the Parliamentary Committee on National Development and Heritage, Minister Aishath Ali highlighted the efforts of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to ensure a proper salary is paid for all teachers. The minister added there would be certain increments for the civil servants working in the education sector. However, she did not reveal when the new salary structure would be implemented.
The education minister expressed teachers are underpaid in addition to their efforts for the education sector going unacknowledged.
