Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture has begun an Animal Pest and Disease Surveillance programme in Raa Atoll.
The ministry will conduct the programme in Ungoofaaru, Hulhudhuhfaaru, Maakurath and Dhuvaafaru. During the programme, a plant and animal health team from the ministry will inspect goat farms and take blood samples from the animals to test for foot and mouth disease. Further, prescriptions for supplements and medicines will be provided to the farmers, in addition to providing information on how to keep the animals healthy and how to take care of them was taught to the farmers.
The Animal Pest and Disease Surveillance programme will be conducted in Raa Atoll until October 11.
