Addu City Council leasing land plots from 6 areas for tourism development

Addu City Council has begun leasing land plots in 6 areas of Addu City for parties interested in developing tourist facilities.

Addu City Council is now accepting bids from interested parties to develop guest houses, city hotels in the tourism zone allocated in the city by the government. The announcement allows locals and expatriates to lease land plots from the council.

Bid documents will be available for purchase from the Secretariat of the Addu City Council from until November 13, according to Mayor of Addu City Abdulla Sodiq. He further highlighted the zones have been decided after considering the marketability of the areas.

Ministry of Tourism has signed an agreement with Addu City Council to develop a total of 4,000 beds in tourist facilities such as guesthouses, city hotels.

Speaking at the function to sign the agreement, Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed said the 4,000 beds is the first phase of a total of 8,000 beds to be developed in Addu City, as part of tourism development in the north and south of the country.
