South Asian Association Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Conference has been held in Maldives with 35 participants from South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries.
Speaking to PSM News, local organising committee member, Dr. Mohamed Azzam explained the most experienced and well-known ophthalmologists from the region participates in the first ever ophthalmology conference for SAARC countries. Topics discussed in the presentations of the conference include causes, symptoms and the treatment of various eye disorders and diseases..
On the first day of the two-day conference, ophthalmologists presented research and shared videos of risky eye surgeries they had carried. The conference held from September 28-29 was inaugurated by Dean of MNU School of Medicine Dr. Sheeza Ali.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Sheeza said participants would benefit from the best practices in other countries and impact career development in addition to networking amongst participants.
