Job seeking will be convenient with the launch of Job Portal: Economic Minister

Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail has announced a job portal is planned to be launched next month to make job seeking more convenient.

Speaking at to inaugurate the function held on the occasion of World Tourism Day, Minister Fayyaz explained the current troubles job seekers face shall be attended as job applications can be submitted online via the portal. He further said the portal would also be used as a mechanism to ensure that expatriates are recruited only when qualified locals are unavailable.

The economic minister also highlighted the various challenges locals face in the work environment. The minister said the biggest challenge for locals is that they lack the required skillsets for work, in addition ineffective work policies of employers. He iterated the immediate need for skills development via skills development centres and policy alignment to increase the capacity and skillsets of locals. He expressed plans to recruit more locals for middle and senior level positions in the hospitality industry.
