President meets Saudi Foreign Minister

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Dr Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Assaf.

During the meeting held on the side-lines of the 74th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, the president and the minister discussed key infrastructural and industrial development projects, multilateral partnerships, and stability and security concerns in regional and international commerce, trade and development. They further discussed future development projects in the Maldives and issues of global importance.

The president expressed his confidence the commencement of direct flights between Riyadh, Jeddah and Malé City will further enhance connectivity and benefit the people of both nations. They also discussed the establishment of a Maldivian consulate in Jeddah and the possibility of a positive revision of the Saudi Visa Fee for Maldivians to travel to Saudi Arabia.

The minister noted he was pleased to see positive development in the bilateral relationship between Maldives and Saudi Arabia and that he looks forward to building even stronger diplomatic ties between the two countries.
