Tourist arrivals in August has increased by 12.4 percent corresponding to tourist arrivals in the same month of last year.
Statistics from Ministry of Tourism indicate 139,338 tourists arrived in Maldives in August. The statistics also show the total tourist arrivals in the first eight months as 1,134,071 which is an increase of 16.6 percent compared to the same period of last year.
Americas recorded the greatest growth for the first eight months with an increase of 25.5 percent, while tourist arrivals from Europe also increased by 15.6 percent, according to the statistics.
The top five regions in the first eight months of 2019 include China, India, Italy, Germany and the UK.
Maldives have a registered count of 49,731 beds, while 46,145 beds have been occupied on an average.
