Vice President Faisal Naseem has expressed beauty of the islands and the heart-warming hospitality from locals as the main reasons tourism has prevailed in the country, urging Maldivians to ensure that these remain the same.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Jazeera Canoe Race held to celebrate the World Tourism Day in Vaavu Atoll, Vice President Naseem recalled to the time when he first began working in the tourism sector 27 years ago. He acknowledged the efforts of those who had been involved in the progress of the industry and thanked them for the continued efforts for the advancement of tourism in Maldives.
The vice president also attended the closing ceremony of the Jazeera Canoe Race and presented medal and award to the winner of the canoe race during the ceremony. He also officially unveiled the website of Thinadhoo Island Council during the visit to the Atoll.
