Vice President Faisal Naseem has met with some companies involved in the supply of fuel.
During the meeting held at the President's Office, Vice President Naseem met with representatives from fuel supplying companies from Greater Malé and inquired about the process of fuel storage, delivery and the daily operations of the companies in delivering and refuelling sea vessels docked at ports in the region.
Speaking at the meeting, the vice president noted the importance of abiding by safety precautions and instructed the companies to standardize their operations to meet with the specified safety guidelines. At the meeting attended by senior officials from State Trading Organisation (STO), Fuel Supplies Maldives (FSM) and Ports Authority, suppliers noted the role they could play in standardising their operations.
At the meeting, the vice president emphasised on the government's plan to phase out industrial activities from residential areas, which include alternate arrangements made for fuel storage as well as refuelling. He also said that the administration would incorporate some a monitoring mechanism to ensure the standardization of the service.
