Hybrid system not completed by MRDC even after payment: Male' City Mayor

Mayor of Male' City Sifa Mohamed has said Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC) never completed the hybrid water system contracted to be established in Male' City even after receiving payment for the project from Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

The mayor of the capital city said authorities are particularly concerned that the project has not been completed and the contracted company has now been dissolved. She noted former Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has spoken about the hybrid system installed on the main road of Male', revealing the system was never completed. Though pipelines have been installed on the road, the system is not in place or ready to be used during times of emergencies, according to the mayor.

Mayor Sifa stated the previous administration conducted road construction projects without a specific plan or feasible studies, adding Male' City Council is working to rectify the deplorable situation of the main road and the ring road surrounding the capital city.

Male' City face serious flooding following heavy flooding. The city council attributes the flooding to the changes made to the road network of the capital city without proper drainage systems.
