No tourism project is too large and no vision is too bold: Vice President

Vice President Faisal Naseem has said no tourism-related project is too large and no vision is too bold to not be able to thrive in Maldives. Vice President Naseem made the remarks while speaking at the function held to officially inaugurate CROSSROADS Maldives, the country's first and largest multi-island integrated resort project.

Congratulating Thai-based Singha Estate in the impressive achievement, the vice president assured the administration is committed to encouraging visionaries and entrepreneurs from across the globe to successfully invest in business ventures in Maldives. He said Maldives welcomes foreign investments and building more mutually beneficial partnerships which would help in the overarching goal of securing a better future for the Maldivian people.

Noting that CROSSROADS Maldives is the first-ever truly integrated tourist destination in the country, Vice President Naseem noted it provides resources to better understand the Maldives. In this regard, the vice president highlighted the Maldives Cultural Centre is a place to catch a glimpse of the rich history and heritage and promote local arts and crafts, while the Marine Discovery Centre will help visitors understand the environmental situation. He asserted initiatives such as these will help underscore the paramount importance of ensuring that these assets are preserved well into the future.

Expressing confidence that the project will help boost the economy, the vice president identified it will provide several employment opportunities for youth who are eager to unlock their potential by pursuing careers in the hospitality industry. He further expressed hope that women would take up the employment opportunities at CROSSROADS Maldives. He further said it is the aim of the administration to ensure that women are able to participate in all key industries on an equal footing with men.

Developed by Singha Estate and its hospitality sector S Hotels & Resorts, CROSSROADS Maldives spans a seven-kilometre long lagoon and nine islands. The lifestyle destination offers 11,000 square metres of retail space, world-class facilities and eight resorts; out which Hard Rock Hotel Maldives and SAii Lagoon Maldives, Curio Collection by Hilton are now open. Both hotels offer direct access to the array of leisure and lifestyle options available at The Marina @CROSSROADS.

Following the official opening ceremony, Vice President Naseem toured the property including the Maldives Discovery Centre.
