President's UN visit to facilitate development aid to Maldives

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated the visit to the United Nations (UN) will facilitate development aid to Maldives.

President Solih is scheduled to visit New York on September 21 to address at United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) sessions to be held from September 21-30.

The president said his visit will provide an opportunity to obtain aid from the international community to assist in the planned development projects in Maldives. He will take part in 5 meetings of the UN and will also participate in the meetings concerning climate change and environment.

Heads of States from across the world will gather to address in the UNGA and President Solih is expected to strengthen bilateral ties with many nations.

President Solih be the first head of state from Maldives to address in the UNGA after six years.
