No rift with Nasheed: President Solih

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated there are no disruptions in the relations with Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed.

Responding to a question at a press briefing held at President’s Office, President Solih said there was no rift between him and Speaker Nasheed over any matter and all reports of disagreements between them are false. He stated further he holds discussions with Nasheed regarding matters of importance and he is content about the efforts of the parliament, led by the speaker.

Since childhood, President Solih and Speaker Nasheed are close allies and are leading figures of the main ruling party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). Nasheed had fully endorsed Solih for running for presidency and in turn Nasheed informed and asked for advice from the president before accepting the speakership of the parliament.
