Ministry of Environment has contracted two companies to install incinerators as part of the efforts to provide a solution for waste management issues faced in 3 islands.
Under the agreement three incinerators in Thilafushi would be transferred to Kulhudhuffushi in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Maafushi in Kaafu Atoll and Fuvahmulah City. In this regard, Maxter Maldives will install the incinerator to Fuvahmulah City, while Coral Life Private Limited will move the incinerator to Kulhudhuffushi and Maafushi.
Speaking after signing the agreements, Minister of Environment Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan stated the administration will continue to conduct projects to provide a lasting solution for the waste management issues faced in the islands.
The projects to install the incinerators should be completed within a period of 119 days at a cost of USD 415,740.
