India and Maldives signs MoU improving better cancer care

Ministry of Health has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) of India, for technical assistance in cancer treatment.

At a function held on Monday in RCC, Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen and the Chief Minister of Kerala signed the MoU. At the event, Minister Ameen highlighted the importance of assistance from India to Maldives in better treating cancer cases in Maldives. At the event, Minister Ameen reiterated the need for strengthening cancer care in Maldives for both prevention and treatment. He also highlighted that the collaboration with RCC would help the Maldives establish systems for holistic cancer care.

RCC offers the services of renowned oncologists and helps early detection and treatment. The centre also run awareness programs on cancer prevention and rehabilitation. The MoU signed would result in major developments cancer prevention and care as India will aid Maldives in training doctors, nurses and other relevant personnel in cancer treatment.
