Ahmed Tholal has resigned from the Committee established by the president to investigate all issues related to housing projects of the previous government.
Taking to twitter to explain his decision, Tholal, who is also a Senior Project Coordinator at Transparency Maldives said, he resigned from the Flat Committee as he could not give adequate time to the committee work while working at TM. He added that it was a mutual decision, to allow the committee work to move faster, with a member who can commit full time.
Thola's resignation comes amid media speculation that Mohamed Muizzu Adnan, who was working in the capacity of Committee Vice President has also resigned. Muizzu declined to comment on these speculations when contacted.
The President's Office has also confirmed that Tholal has resigned, however it has not confirmed Muizzu's resignation. The President's Office has also confirmed the appointment of lawyer Thaha Mohamed as Tholal's replacement.
The five member committee was formulated to investigate all issues related to previous housing projects of the previous government including the "Hiyaa Project", "Gedhoruveri kurun" project and "Gulhifalhu Housing Project".
