Judicial Service Commission suspends High Court Judge Hassan Ali.

Judge Hassan Ali is implicated in the investigation into the kidnapping and murder of journalist Ahmed Rilwan Abdulla, for attempting to forge travel documentation that would depict that Rilwan died abroad. He is suspected of collaborating with two police officers in this attempt.

According to the Judicial Service Commission, the Presidential Commission on Murders and Enforced Disappearances have shared all relevant information regarding its investigation, with the institution. Based on this, Judge Hassan Ali has been relieved from all responsibilities and instructed not to report to office.

At an earlier press conference held by the Presidential Commission on Murders and Enforced Disappearances, President of the Commission Husnu- Suood revealed, under the then Vice President Ahmed Adeeb instructions, two police officers met with then Controller of Immigration Hassan Ali, in order to obtain forged travel documentation that would depict that Rilwan absconded to Syria and died there.

At the same press conference, it was revealed that Rilwan was kidnapped and killed at sea. His body was dumped at sea.
