Foreign Minister departs to Jeddah to attend OIC conference

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has departed to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to attend the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The foreign ministers meeting scheduled to take place on 15 September and was convened by Saudi Arabia to analyze Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's pledge to annex the Jordan Valley and the northern Dead Sea if he wins the election.

The Maldivian government has released a statement saying that Maldives will not accept any plans by Israel to annex any part of Palestine as deemed illegal by international law and has reiterated its support to the government and people of Palestine.

Minister Shahid is accompanied by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Khaleel.
