MPS search operation concludes with zero arrests

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has concluded the special search operation commissioned by the Presidential Commission on the Investigation of Murders and Enforced Disappearances.

The operation saw the inspection of 17 residences and investigation of 11 persons. MPS concluded the operations on Wednesday night after all locations and persons on the court order requested by the commission were inspected.
Inspections were carried out in Addu City, in addition to Male' City and Hulhumale'.

Ahmed Ageel, the person who stands accused of arranging the vessel aboard which journalist Ahmed Rilwan was kidnapped, was taken under custody during the operation. However, he has been released after obtaining a statement.
