Zahir appointed as the new President of Employment Tribunal

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Mohamed Zahir as the new President of the Employment Tribunal of Maldives.

Mohamed Zahir has been serving at the Employment Tribunal previously in his capacity as a member. The president made the appointment following the resignation of Ahmed Shifau from the position on August 27.

Shifau was appointed as the president of Employment Tribunal of Maldives in March 2018 during the presidency of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

The Employment Tribunal was established in December 2008 pursuant to the Employment Act 2008 and is composed of 7 members who are appointed to the post by the President of Maldives.
