Home Minister and Police Commissioner meet Rilwan's family

Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla and Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed have met the relatives of murdered journalist Ahmed Rilwan Abdulla.

The meeting took place following an announcement by the Presidential Commission on Investigation of Murder and Enforced Disappearances on Rilwan who had been missing since August 2014. The commission had conducted a thorough investigation and revealed Rilwan had been abducted and murdered by extremist elements.

The public has been alarmed after the parliament made public Rilwan's murder case report and much criticism has been directed at the police for their negligence and possible involvement in covering up the case.

During the meeting held at the family residence of Rilwan, the police commissioner stated action will be taken if any police negligence has been found over the murder case investigation.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih also stated legal action will be taken against all individuals responsible for the murder of the journalist.
