President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with several foreign dignitaries at the sidelines of the 4th Indian Ocean Conference (IOC). The sessions took place following the inauguration ceremony of the IOC at Paradise Island Resort where the President made opening remarks.
President Solih met with dignitaries from ten different countries and discussed issues pertinent to several different important spheres, such as the mounting threats of global warming, radicalization and illicit trafficking.
The president also hosted a dinner at Paradise Island Resort for the dignitaries attending the IOC, which includes senior dignitaries from across the Indian Ocean to discuss the traditional and non-traditional security issues confronting the region.
The conference was chaired by Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe and was held from September 3-4 The IOC is organised by India Foundation in association with Government of Maldives and S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Singapore. The theme of IOC 2019 is Securing the Indian Ocean Region: Traditional and Non-Traditional Challenges.
