Professor Maithree Wickramesinghe, the Spouse of Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, has paid a courtesy call on First Lady Fazna Ahmed. The call took place at Mulee'aage, the Official Residence of the President of Maldives.
First Lady Fazna extended warm greetings to Professor Wickremesinghe upon her arrival at Mulee'aage and discussed avenues of cooperation between the two countries. Speaking at the meeting, Professor Wickramesinghe noted that an island university concept would attract a lot of publicity and students, given the geographical isolation of Maldives islands and expressed interest in such a project.
Following the discussions, First Lady Fazna and Professor Wickremesinghe observed the preparation of a local delicacy by a master of authentic Maldivian cuisine. They also noted similarities between Maldivian and Sri Lankan cuisine and expressed interest in a fusion of the two countries.
