Alia Construction Private Limited has completed the tertiary hospital in Addu City and hands over the facility to the Government of Maldives.
The development of the 100-bed hospital was funded by Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) and OPEC Fund. The project was developed at a cost of USD 20.9 million.
Initially, Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure took over the hospital on May 31. However, after an inspection, the ministry noted some renovation needs to be conducted at the hospital. Efforts are now underway to install the required equipment before the building will be handed over to Ministry of Health.
The tertiary hospital was developed at the Equatorial Convention Centre (ECC) in Hithadhoo, Addu City. It was specially build for the 17th SAARC Summit held in November 2011.
