Land reclamation for Faresmaathodaa Airport project concludes

Faresmaathodaa Island Council says the land reclamation project for the development of the airport has concluded.

Speaking to PSM, President of Faresmaathodaa Island Council Nasrullah Mohamed said land reclamation for the runway and the airport terminal, which began on August 2, has now been completed. He further stated the development of the runway and the terminal building has not been contracted by the government.

Minister of National Planning and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam had said the development of an airport in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll is highly anticipated by the people in the region, in addition to the people residing in the island of Faresmaathodaa.

A total of 19.8 hectares of land was reclaimed in Faresmaathodaa which has a population of about 1,200 people.
