Government of Sri Lanka has decided to grant a 90-days on arrival visa for Maldivians.
The agreement on visa will be signed as part of the official visit by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to Maldives, according to some Sri Lankan media reports. Under the new agreement, the two countries will agree to grant 3 months of on arrival visa for Maldivians as well as Sri Lankans.
Further, it has also been decided students from both countries would be granted Multiple-Entry Student Visa. With the implementation of the new visa agreement, the restrictions on Maldivians travelling to Sri Lanka for medical treatment and studies will be eased.
Ambassador of Maldives to Sri Lanka Omar Abdul Razzak had also held discussions with Controller General of Department of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka R. M. P. S. B. Rathnayake to ease visa restrictions for Maldivians.
Under the current visa agreement, citizens of both countries continue to obtain one month of on arrival visa.
