ICIA 2019 commences with over 300 participants

Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) has commenced International Conference on Intellectual Advancement (ICIA).

The theme for this year's conference is building learning communities through exchange of knowledge. The inauguration ceremony of ICIA 2019 was attended by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali and Minister of Environment Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan.

Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor of IUM Dr. Ibrahim Zakariyya Moosa highlighted the conference is held at a time when several administrative changes are made and plans are in place to take IUM to another level.

Meanwhile, Chair of the ICIA Dr. Dheeba Moosa noted such conferences are eye openers and opens opportunity for new researches.

The two-day conference will see the submission of 50 research papers and 5 posters which is comprised of 35 papers prepared by experts from South Asian institutions and 15 papers from local scholars. The topics of the papers include psychology, mental health, curriculum, Islamic civilization, finance, Qur'anic science, Shair'ah and law, politics and diplomacy, digitalisation, language and literature, according to IUM. The conference is attended by over 300 participants.

ICIA is an international conference held annually that provides the opportunity to bring together professors, researchers and higher education students of different disciplines. The conference will provide a platform to discuss new issues, and discover the most recent research in all fields, including education, social sciences and humanities in a multicultural atmosphere.

The first edition of the conference was held in 2016. The conference was previously held as International Conference on Islamic Awakening.
