President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with members of Buruni Island Council as part of his official visit to some islands in Thaa Atoll.
During the meeting held at the Secretariat of the Buruni Island Council, President Solih and the councillors discussed the main issues faced by the community and ways to resolve them. The councillors relayed details of several concerns and pressing issues such as expanding school facilities, soil erosion issues and problems with the electricity plant. The councillors also discussed plans to empower and develop youth and children, suggesting infrastructural projects such as a multi-purpose hall, sports ground and a park. They also disclosed the schoolchildren have grown markedly healthier with the introduction of the breakfast programme initiated by the administration.
The president stated the concerns shared by the members of the council will be relayed to the relevant ministries.
