Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla has stated he has the full confidence in Maldives Police Service to uphold the rule of law and to provide protection and safety for the citizens.
Addressing the parliamentarians when he was summoned to the Parliament of Maldives, Home Minister Imran highlighted the efforts made to enhance the policing service since 2004 when police force was partitioned from the military.
The home minister noted a numerous amount of police officers have been trained as part of the efforts to form a police force that has been trained in the latest policing approaches. He added a five-year strategic plan has been implanted for the police service to ensure they receive the respect from the public.
Emphasising on how the police service has been structured now, the home minister expressed confidence that rule of law will be upheld and the citizens would have the protection from the state. He further mentioned the various training programmes the police officers have participated as part of the efforts to form a respectable police force.
