President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has nominated Ali Hashim to be confirmed by the Parliament of Maldives as the Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).
Hashim had previously served as the Minister of Finance from 2008-2010 during the presidency of former President Mohamed Nasheed.
The position of the governor of MMA has been left vacant following the resignation of Ahmed Naseer on July 24. His resigned after he was accused of influencing Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) at MMA from investigating and reporting the corruption scandal of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation.
