Public asked to submit views on nominations for Information Commissioner

Parliament of Maldives has opened opportunity for the public to submit their views on the nominations proposed by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to be appointed as the Information Commissioner.

The announcement was made under Article 201(d) of the parliamentary regulations. The announcement also suggested public can present their views on the nominations by email or a written document.

The names nominated by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih include FIyaz Moosa, Ahmed Fayaz Hassan, Ahmed Ahid Rasheed and Fathimath Sausan. The president proposed the nominations following the conclusion of the tenure of Abdul-Aziz Jamal Aboobakur as the Information Commissioner on July 16.

Information Commissioner's Office is an independent body with the authority to autonomously communicate, as well as receive and lodge legal complaints.
