Chair of Parliamentary Committee on Finances Ahmed Nashiz has said efforts from individuals working in accounting sector and auditing sector are needed to eliminate acts of corruption.
Addressing the annual Maldives Accountants Forum organised by Auditor General's Office, Parliamentarian Nashiz said companies need to hire qualified auditors and experts in finance to strengthen the governance and internal control system. He urged auditors and accountants to fulfil their duties to ensure the funds and properties of the state are utilised fairly and efficiently.
Furthermore, the parliamentarian assured to prioritise to pass the Professional Accountancy Organisation Bill. Highlighting the efforts of the Auditor General's Office to enhance the auditing and accounting profession of Maldives, Nashiz assured the support from Public Accounts Committee.
