Maldives and the US have begun a joint military exercise named Exercise Flash Metal 01-19.
The joint military exercises are held at Central Area Headquarters in Kahdhoo, Laamu Atoll, according to Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
MNDF said its Special Forces, Marine Corps and Coast Guard will take part in the exercise, in addition to a team of US Navy SEALs.
The joint military exercise will conclude on September 17.
