Parliamentarian Ali Niyaz has revealed Hulhumale' beach will be developed to an island style concept.
Speaking to PSM News, the main ruling party parliamentarian assured the government will develop the beach to an island style concept, instead of leasing the area for coffee shops. Noting the area will always be open for the public, the parliamentarian highlighted the area was previously used without a plan by the previous government.
Previously, the beach was used by cafes, restaurants and guest houses without approval from Housing Development Corporation (HDC).
HDC has asked all parties to remove all belongings, dismantle any structures and to evacuate the area. HDC is now working to connect utility pipelines of Hulhumale' Phase I and Phase II via the beach frontline.
