Ferry services will enable easier transportation across Maldives: Planning Minister

Minister of National Planning and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam has stated the ferry services established by the administration will enable easier transportation across Maldives.

Speaking at the Councillor's Conference held by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Planning Minister Aslam said speed ferries used by foreign countries will be introduced in Maldives. Noting the ferry services introduced by MDP in 2009 disastrously failed with the change in government in 2012, the minister mentioned the ferry system is important to a country such as Maldives. He highlighted ferry services will be introduced in 3 parts of the country, noting priority will be given to cover all the atolls.

Moreover, the planning minister revealed the ferry services will bring changes to the harbours in the islands. Further, he expressed relevant discussions are underway with the cabinet ministers.
