Minister of Ali Waheed Tourism Ali has stated 21 islands leased to be developed as resorts have requested to extend the initial resort development period.
Speaking to media, Minister Ali Waheed said 21 from the 70 islands which are under development phase have requested to extend the development period. The minister revealed efforts are underway now to determine whether the requests can be permitted.
Furthermore, the tourism minister noted the islands include islands which were leased 10 years ago. The minister assured the administration will assist and cooperate legally to develop the islands as resorts. Moreover, he initially stated 45 resorts will be opened to the market within three years.
