Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) expresses the main aim of registering as a political party is to continue operating reform efforts in Maldives.
Speaking to media after submitting the registration forms to Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM), Minister of Heritage, Arts and Culture Yumna Maumoon described MRM as a reform movement working for the benefit of the country. She said the root cause of clashes with Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) in 2016 was the reform ideology envisioned by former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom.
Minister Yumna highlighted many individuals have been actively engaged in the reform movement since the announcement to establish the entity as a political party. She expressed delight on the results of the efforts initiated by former President Maumoon in the political sphere of Maldives.
MRM is the third party formed under the leadership of Maumoon. Previously, he assisted in forming Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) and PPM.
