CSC holds discussions with India to train 1,000 civil servants

Civil Service Commission (CSC) has discussed with relevant authorities of India to develop 1,000 civil servants from Maldives.

The India-Maldives agreement on Training and Capacity Building Programme for Maldivian Civil Servants was operationalized following discussions with senior officials from Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) and National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG).

During the meeting, discussions were held to identify collaborative programmes to provide certain training programmes for civil servants. Meanwhile, a training calendar with a timeline reflecting the dates and programmes was publicized by President of CSC Dr. Ali Shameem Ambassador of India to Maldives Sanjay Sudhir and Additional Secretary Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances of India Shri V. Srinivas.

The first three programmes will be held in the last quarter of this year, according to the timeline. In this regard, the first 3 training programmes under the agreement will be held from September 16-28, November 18-30, for 60 officers of middle management level and from December 2-14 for 30 officers of top management level.

Further on the side-lines of the training programme for top management level civil servants, National Centre for Good Governance of would collaborate with CSC to convene a Conference on Good Governance and Innovations in Governance depicting the best governance practices between the two nations.

As part of the agreement, an academic committee would be established between the two institutions for enhanced cooperation in implementing training programmes which would cover areas relating to subject matter, faculty and timelines of the training programmes.
