President's Office has stated nominations for the two vacant positions at Maldives Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom) will be forwarded before the parliament goes to recess.
Nominations for the vacant posts at Broadcom are being evaluated by the President's Office, according to the Spokesperson at President's Office Chief Communications Strategist Ibrahim Hood. He revealed the office is working to forward the nominations before the parliament goes to recess at the end of the month.
Broadcom is comprised of 7 members but is currently 2 members short following the resignation of Ismail Sofwan and Hassan Nabaah amid parliament investigations.
Meanwhile, parliamentarians have expressed concerns over the delay in scheduling the no confidence vote against the president and the vice president of Broadcom. Some parliamentarians commenting on the matter said the reasons behind the delay are unclear despite Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions approving to remove the president and the vice president of Broadcom.
The parliamentarians mentioned the debate in the committee was concluded and the report has been forwarded to the speaker of the parliament, adding the issue needs to be addressed immediately. Moreover, the parliamentarians who spoke with PSM News noted other issues which were filed later than the aforementioned issue was put on the agenda and concluded.
