Home Ministry provides financial assistance to four islands to conduct projects

Ministry of Home Affairs has provided financial assistance to four islands to conduct projects which will benefit the society.

The home ministry signed the agreements of financial assistance with Himandhoo Island Council, Holhudhoo Island Council, Vilufushi Island Council and Kudafari Island Council. Under the grants, the councils should conduct the projects mentioned in the agreements. In this regard, road lights must be installed in Kudafari, a children's park must be developed in Vilufushi and Himandhoo and a community park must be developed in Holhudhoo.

To install road lights in Kudafari, the home ministry will grant USD 19,364, while Kudafari Island Council will spend over USD 12,909 US dollars for the project.

To develop a children's park in Vilufushi, over USD 18,000 was provided by the ministry, while Vilufushi Island Council will spend over USD 8,391.

Moreover, the home ministry will grant USD 18,000 to build a community park in Holhudhoo, while the island council will spend about USD 14,000.

To develop the children's park in Himandhoo, the ministry has decided to grant USD 19,364 and the island council will spend USD 32,403.

Meanwhile, the ministry has also decided to provide financial assistance to build parks in 6 islands, install road lights in 6 islands, construct walls around cemeteries in 4 islands and install harbour lights in 1 island.

The islands were selected by evaluating the proposals submitted by the local councils, according to the home ministry.
