National Institute of Education (NIE) has revealed efforts are underway to submit 98 papers at the 5th International Teachers' Conference scheduled for next month.
NIE will host the fifth edition of International Teachers' Conference in collaboration with Ministry of Education and England's University of Cambridge from September 4-5 this year.
Speaking to PSM News regarding the preparations, Education Development Officer Shuhuda Rizwan stated many papers were received during the opportunity given to submit papers for the upcoming conference. She said NIE decided to submit 98 papers to the conference for discussions, after evaluating the submissions. Furthermore, 14 papers will be submitted from NIE which includes papers related to national curriculum, papers on separate subjects and papers on assessment making.
While the conference is scheduled to be held in Addu City, this is the first ever such conference held in an atoll. Keynote speakers of the 5th International Teachers' Conference include President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The conference is also participated by experts from Singapore, Malaysia and UK.
The conference held every two years is the biggest conference held for teachers in Maldives. The open event for teachers and other professions of the education sector including some foreign invitees is held to academically discuss on changes seen in the education sector and conduct relevant researches. The conference also aims to offer teachers a platform to share experiences and learn from one another in a context of research and practice.
NIE expects the conference will enhance and enable a culture of academic research among teachers and educators in Maldives.
